Bionic Buzz® got to cover the red carpet of the 14th Annual AAFCA Awards at Beverly Wilshire, A Four Seasons Hotel in Beverly Hills, CA. The African American Film Critics Association (AAFCA) actively reviews and spotlights cinema at-large, with a particular emphasis on film and TV highlighting the Black experience, especially that produced, written and/or directed by persons from the African Diaspora. Members are also engaged in AAFCA’s advocacy work, which includes programming for students interested in film criticism and journalism in addition to general community outreach.

AAFCA members are a geographically diverse cross-section of journalists, covering all genres of the cinematic arts while representing multiple mediums – including print, TV, radio broadcast and online. Collectively, they reach a worldwide audience in excess of 100 million.

Our host Virag Vida got to interview actress Charmaine Bingwa (Emancipation & The Good Fight), director Gina Prince-Bythewood (The Woman King), comedian Roy Wood Jr. (Actor from The Daily Show), Ryan Coogler (Director & Writer of Black Panther: Wakanda Forever), Rickey Minor (Emmy Award-winning Music Director, Producer, Composer & Author), actress Ashlei Sharpe Chestnut (Star Trek: Picard & Cruel Summer), composer Michael Abels (Nope and Us), Gil L. Robertson IV (President of the African American Film Critics Association) and producer C.J. Faison (Giants and Unapologetically Black).
