Bionic Buzz® interviewed Australian-born, Texas-based singer-songwriter Shea Fisher over Zoom. After taking a few years to focus on family, business, and personal growth, Shea is making a return to the country music scene with this heartfelt anthem that blends nostalgia with a deep love for her Texas roots. “TAKE ME BACK TO TEXAS,” was co-written with Grammy Award-winning Jessie Jo Dillon and Karyn Rochelle (Garth Brooks’ longtime harmony singer), and it speaks to the emotional pull of chasing bigger dreams while staying anchored to the simple beauty of home.
Shea’s musical journey began in Australia, where she achieved chart-topping success with six #1 hits on the ARIA Country Charts, including songs like “Just the Excuse” and “Everyday Girl.” She then made the bold move to the U.S., where she earned additional success with tracks like “Suitcase” and “Don’t Chase Me,” which also hit a Top 20 spot on CMT with the music video.
As a daughter of rodeo champions – her father Eddie a bull riding and bareback riding champion and her mother Joanne a barrel racing champion – Shea’s connection to the country lifestyle runs deep. She has embraced her Texas home to build a full life, one that includes being a mother, wife to World Champion Tie Down Roper Tyson Durfey, and an entrepreneur with successful ventures like the children’s clothing line Shea Baby and Shea Michelle Buckles.
As a mother of three and a woman who’s learned to balance family, career, and creative aspirations, Shea can share her story of resilience, reinvention, and the power of pursuing your passion at any stage of life. “This new song is a testament to the idea that it’s never too late to chase your dreams, no matter where you are in life,” she says.
We talked to her about where her passion for music came from, new single, the music video for “TAKE ME BACK TO TEXAS,” and what the except for 2025.
