Bionic Buzz® interviewed Bush bassist, producer and singer-songwriter Corey Britz over zoom. We talked about his new solo single called “Different Kind of Love,” producing the Bush single “Nowhere To Go But Everywhere” from their greatest hits album Loaded, upcoming summer tour with Jerry Cantrell / Candlebox and more.

Corey Britz is no stranger to the music scene as the bassist of iconic multiplatinum rock band BUSH. But Corey is also an active composer, producer, and session player. He co-produced the title track “Kingdom” from Bush’s 2020 album, and has worked with Dave Stewart, Backstreet Boys, The Calling, Atlas Genius, and many more. He produced the current Bush single “Nowhere to Go but Everywhere.” As a solo artist he released his debut album Slightly Exaggerated Tales of Past Events in 2021. Since then he has released a number of singles with his 80’s inspired brand of Indie/Alternative music. His single “Leave My Heart Alone” and “Different Kind of Love” are OUT NOW.

Corey Britz talking about “Different Kind of Love.” “This song is about relationships that are great on paper but fall short in some inexplicable way. It’s the difference between like and love. No one knows what it is, but everyone knows the difference. Arranging this song proved to be a challenge because I wanted to drive home the fact that this song isn’t about one relationship but a series of several on your journey to finding your person. I decided to change keys a couple times to really drive that fact home. The lack of harmonic resolution at the end implies that the protagonist never does find the one, and his search continues.”
