Bionic Buzz® covered Brightside Music Festival at the Orlando Amphitheater at the Central Florida Fairgrounds in Orlando. It was an absolute blast, offering a perfect combination of music, drinks, food, and sunshine in a picturesque setting by a lake. The festival also featured three hours of unlimited craft beer tasting inside which also featured a free 360 video op sponsored by NÜTRL Vodka Seltzer.

The music festival featured an amazing line of bands. The highlight for me was seeing Zebrehead, a rock band that I have been a fan of since the late 90’s. However this was only my fourth time seeing them, while not known very well in the United States, they are a huge band overseas in Japan, Australia, Europe and sadly don’t play a lot of shows here in the USA. This was my first time seeing them with new rhythm guitarist / singer Adrian Estrella. Their energetic live show featured a bubble guitar solo and one of the Zebrahead’s skeleton crew was carried by the crowd on a watermelon float during their song “All My Friends Are Nobodies.”

Save Ferris played their fun upbeat ska which had the crowd forming skanting circles in the pit. Lead singer Monique Powell made sure the crowd was into their whole set and she even did a dress change mid-way through their set.

Story of the Year brought the emo to the music festival with their amazing live performance. It was a great mix of songs from their classic first album “Page Ave” and my favorite songs from their latest album “Tear Me to Pieces,” featuring the title track, and “War.” Of course, the highlight was the whole crowd screaming along to their emo anthem “Until the Day I Die.”

Pop Punk / Ska band Goldfinger stole the show with their entertaining set of classic featuring the 90’s hit “Here in Your Bedroom” and cover of “99 Balloons.” During “Open Your Eyes” lead singer / legendary record producer John Feldmann dove into the ground and crowd surfed back to the stage, it was awesome!

311 put on an amazing set featured their many hits like “Down,” “Amber,” “Beautiful Disaster,” and during “Applied Science” featured a drum solo, then a full band drum solo on a drum line that was brought onto the stage. The crowd went nuts as many have never seen anything like that before.

The headline of the festival was Sublime which is now fronted by Bradley Nowell’s son Jakob Nowell. He sounds just like his late father and featured the original Sublime line up backing him up. Fresh off their internet buzzing Coachella performance, the band ripped through their hits such as “Wrong Way,” What I Got,” “Badfish,” and more. Overall, the festival seems to have been a perfect way to enjoy a day of music and fun in April in Florida, and it’s understandable why I hope for it to become an annual tradition here in Orlando.
