Dark Harbor Halloween experience returns with new spirits, mazes, freaks and frights inspired by the real-life hauntings on the Queen Mary in Long Beach. We got to attend the Media/VIP night to check it out. The Queen Mary is located in the Port of Long Beach and features a rich history of Art Deco going back to her maiden voyage back in 1936. She was considered the grandest ocean liner ever built at the time and people come from all around the world come to visit her. One of the many tours given to guest around the year is the ghost tour of the ship. Every Halloween time, the ship is transformed into Dark Harbor a very unique and spooky Halloween experience.

Where other theme parks try and set up a spooky atmosphere, Dark Harbor has history on its side. Queen Mary has been voted one of the most haunted places in the world. Walking through it alone is already a scary experience. Add mazes, people jumping out at you and you got one of the best halloween experiences in Southern California. Their haunted mazes take you through the ships belly boiling and very spooky & haunted pool of the old ship. The three mazes on the actually ship are Lullaby, B240, and Soulmate. There is also a 4D horror movie called PANIC on the ship that puts you in this resident evil type experiences. For someone who loves VR and 4D experiences, I have to say they did an amazing job on it. The 4D movie features water spray (or should I say blood) bubbles, fake snow, and air to make your experience horrific. The new maze featuring the Ironmaster is Intrepid where at one point you have to crawl through a tube with monsters screaming at you. Pretty awesome! Also inside the Dome is the newly redesigned classic Circus haunted maze. When I say maze, it really is a maze. At times we got lost. The ball pit is back which was a lot fun trying to make your way through.

The freaks & performances are back in the Big Top & sideshow bar. Also they have stages by many of the mazes so you can be entertained in line while you wait to enter the haunted maze. One of my favorite, the Hex paint ball is back again this year while you can shoot haunted theme targets. New this year is the Voodoo House where you can sample Herradura Tequila. There is also a full bar and shoots you can buy including my favorite Pumpkin Spice flavor shoots. As someone who loves anything Pumpkin, I have never had a shoot of one before but it was amazing.
