Bionic Buzz interviewed actress, producer, and director Emily “Lee” Lawson over Zoom to discuss her passion for filmmaking, how storytelling can push us out of our shy shells, and her new short film MAN EATING PUSSY, which is having its World Premiere at the world-famous SXSW 2026.

MAN EATING PUSSY follows a dying man seeking the ultimate release: a birth in reverse. Freddie (Julian Richings) has reached the end of his life when he meets Kitty (Grace Glowicki), a sex worker with a vagina for a face, in a dimly lit hotel room to fulfill his final request—to die inside her. What begins as a surreal transaction slowly becomes something more intimate. Freddie sees Kitty not as an object, but as a person, and Kitty, in turn, offers him tenderness, care, and the chance to leave the world on his own terms.

Emily “Lee” Lawson is a Toronto-based filmmaker and performer whose work explores experiences at the intersection of trauma and transformation through storytelling that examines how emotion manifests in the body. She has appeared in projects on platforms like HBO, at institutions such as the Art Gallery of Ontario (AGO), and at festivals including TIFF and Cannes. Lawson previously directed the tactile short RICHARD AND MARY, featured on CBC Radio’s “Here and Now,” and is currently in production on POLYCEPOLIS, supported by the Toronto Arts Council (TAC), OAC, and CCA.

The film was supported by the Canada Council for the Arts (CCA), the Ontario Arts Council (OAC), the National Film Board of Canada (NFB), and a Panavision New Filmmakers Grant.
