WHAT:
Calvary Baptist Church unites with GUARDaHEART Foundation to offer No-Cost COVID-19 antibody testing for the City of Santa Monica community and the surrounding areas. The No Cost COVID-19 antibody tests are covered under the CARES Act and will be available to the community to individuals who do NOT have any symptoms of COVID-19. If someone has health insurance, they need to provide their insurance card as insurance companies are required under the CARES Act to pay for the test’s cost. The insurer will have no cost to them, such as co-payments, deductibles, or lab work. Testing starts at age one and anyone under 17 years old must be accompanied by an adult.
The community event starts on Tuesday, Jan. 19 through Thursday, Jan. 21 at Calvary Baptist Church of Santa Monica, 1502 20th Street, Santa Monica, CA 90404 from 10 A.M. to 4 P.M.
The SARS-CoV-2 antibody testing being provided is one of the most reliable antibody tests available. It has a sensitivity of 100 percent and a specificity of 99.6 percent performance evaluations. This COVID-19 antibody blood test can be used to detect the presence of an IgM & IgG antibody response. A positive result indicates that an individual has been infected with the COVID-19 pathogen and has developed some level of immunity. This test could be a critical next step in battling COVID-19, continuing to flatten the curve and ensuring a safe re-opening of the community.

Dr. Douglas S. Harrington, MD Fellow of the American Society of Preventive Cardiology, the American Society of Clinical Pathology, and Chairman of The GUARDaHEART Foundation 501(c)3 will be available on opening day Tuesday, Jan 19 to discuss the difference between a SARS-CoV-2 serology antibody test and COVID-19 swab test. He will also discuss other topics on the correlation of heart disease and the coronavirus. Dr. Harrington will educate people on the leading spread of the virus which has been found in public restrooms.
