Alternative rock duo The Blue Stones have achieved their first Top 5 at U.S. radio with the single “Shakin’ Off The Rust” on the Billboard Mainstream Rock Radio chart this week. The track was released on Entertainment One (eOne), and has over 9 million streams across DSPs since its release last fall. The song reached #1 on the Billboard Canadian Rock Radio chart this past January, the first #1 of the band’s career.
The band, featuring guitarist/vocalist Tarek Jafar and drummer/vocalist Justin Tessier, was nominated for a 2020 JUNO award for “Breakthrough Group Of The Year.” The pair have been actively live streaming across social media recently, including partnerships with Audiotree and Collective Arts Brewing.
“Shakin’ Off The Rust” marked the first single off of the band’s highly-anticipated sophomore album. The track is meticulously layered with cannon-esque percussion and electrifying guitars; creating an emotional intensity that sets the table perfectly for Jafar’s powerful vocal delivery. Working with producer Paul Meany (Mutemath, Twenty One Pilots) on the album, the band displays an impressive sonic range exemplified in singles like the darker leaning “Grim” and R&B tinged “Careless”. With more music on the way, 2020 is shaping up to be one of the most exciting years yet for The Blue Stones.
