Making history once again, global artist Ricky Martin will receive the first-ever Latin Icon Award at the 2025 MTV Video Music Awards, honoring a career spanning more than four decades that has brought Latin music and culture to the global mainstream.
With over 70 million albums sold worldwide, and as a multi-GRAMMY® and Latin GRAMMY® winner with more than 180 awards for his music, acting, and humanitarian work, Ricky Martin continues to establish himself as one of the most influential and admired figures in the entertainment industry.
His highly anticipated return to the VMA stage will mark a special milestone: the 25th anniversary of his historic performance, when he became the first male Latin artist to win Best Pop Video and walked away with five awards that night.
Through this recognition, MTV will highlight Ricky Martin’s cultural, artistic, and social impact as a true pioneer who paved the way for future generations and continues to shape trends in music and the arts.
