Maybe you are like me and miss going to concerts. Its not just the music, but the production that goes into the concert experience. The lights, video production, the banter between the musicians on stage in between songs, etc. Luckily, Jimmy Eat World is doing a global stream performance series called the Phoenix Sessions. The event is put on by Danny Wimmer Presents and features the critically acclaimed alternative rock band performing all tracks from three of their albums on three different nights. Last Friday was their first one and had the band performing all tracks from their Surviving album. The band played in a circle with the members Jim Adkins, Rick Burch, Tom Linton and Zach Lind facing each other. It took place at the Icehouse in Phoenix, AZ which was perfect with their white walls. There were amazing lights and projected videos on the animation on the walls in all directions of the band. Cameras set up and camera crew with masks on with handheld camera devices going in and out of the members.

The highlight (at least for me) was them performing “555” which is track four on the Surviving album. What a great song, they even had fog machine going with the deep blue lights to match the mood of the song. It’s the little things in production that adds a lot (at least to me) to the concert experience.

While tuning his guitar before the song “All the Way (Stay)” lead singer Jim Adkins joked “this is called tuning the guitars, this is part of the live experience, this is the most experience guitar tuning we have ever presented to people. Tuning my guitar in 12K. Its beautiful, watch just watch.” LOL Like I said, I miss band banter on stage in between songs. Their set ended with an empty phone booth in the middle of the “stage” area which is a nice tease to the cover of their next album Futures. What does it mean? Guess we will have to tune in to their next one which is their amazing album Futures on Friday Jan 29th followed by Clarity on Friday February 12th.  You can buy a single “concert” ticket or get bundles that include Stream Poster or Stream T-Shirt. Hurry, early bird pricing ends on January 24th. Get yours now at https://www.jimmyeatworldlive.com/
