Bionic Buzz® interviewed Coco Kinnon, lead singer of rising punk band Winona Fighter, over Zoom—joined by special co-host DJ Rossstar. We dove into Coco’s passion for music, learning drums, life in Nashville, and the quirky stories behind their music—like why certain song titles are in ALL CAPS, stripping down their hit single “You Look Like A Drunk Phoebe Bridgers,” and even recording drums through a garden hose. We also talked about stage diving traditions when Winona Fighter sells out a venue, and much more!

Punk’s most exciting new act Winona Fighter is stripping things down with a brand new acoustic version of their hit single “You Look Like A Drunk Phoebe Bridgers”. Originally found on their 2022 EP Father Figure and re-recorded for the band’s debut full-length My Apologies To The Chef, “You Look Like A Drunk Phoebe Bridgers” has become a fan favorite and a setlist staple for the Winona Fighter.

But hold on, there’s more!

Winona Fighter is excited to announce that they will be releasing a deluxe edition of their critically acclaimed debut album My Apologies To The Chef. Set to be released digitally on September 5th with limited edition vinyl available for pre-order now, the expanded album will feature acoustic versions of every song from the original release, as well as covers of Beastie Boys’ “Sabotage” and Violent Femmes’ “Blister In The Sun”.

About Winona Fighter

Based in Nashville, Winona Fighter—front woman and multi-instrumentalist Coco Kinnon, lead guitarist Dan Fuson and bassist/producer Austin Luther — formed after Coco moved there from Boston, and made a strong impression with their 2022 debut EP, Father Figure. Three of its songs—”Subaru”, “You Look Like A Drunk Phoebe Bridgers” and “Wlbrn St Tvrn”—were re-recorded for MY APOLOGIES TO THE CHEF, the band’s debut album, but their power and potency is in no way diminished. In fact, the rage and frustration that courses through them, and which also infuses the band’s energetic and compelling live shows, feels even more visceral, pointed and necessary than before, something that carries over into the other songs too.
