WHAT:
CARIBEÑA CREATIVES, THE RABBLE, and AVENIDA Productions owned by actors/producers Marilyn Camacho, Lynette Coll, and Fanny Véliz Grande respectively, announced their support of#LatinxGoldOpen – A Movement for Financial Success of Latinx Projects.
#GoldOpen was created in 2018 to support the successful opening weekend of Crazy Rich Asians. Since then, the movement has expanded with ongoing partners the Coalition of Asian Pacifics in Entertainment, AMC Theatres, and more to support more than two dozen films to box office success including Parasite and The Farewell.
WHO:
For the first time, NALIP, representing the Latinx communities, and Gold House, representing the AAPI communities, have joined together in supporting new majority voices to prove representation means gold. The opening weekend is the most critical time window for film projects to guarantee their vitality.
#LatinxGoldOpen will increase awareness of premieres through an extensive network of influencers and bring together audiences to guarantee success of Latinx-centric projects through theater buyouts and increased individual and bulk ticket purchases.
“We are honored to be able to support and partner with NALIP, GOLD HOUSE & CAPE on this multicultural movement created to ensure our films have a chance to be seen. We’re also thrilled to collaborate with two powerhouse women, our executive team member Lynette Coll (also Co-Founder and CCO of THE RABBLE) and Fanny at AVENIDA PRODUCTIONS in this is a collective effort to bring power to diversity in our communities in an absolute, effective way and moves us forward in ensuring our stories are being told authentically.” said Marilyn Camacho, CEO of Caribeña Creatives.
“As the two fastest-growing communities in America, it makes sense for the Latinx and the API community to come together and form an alliance to create this movement to show Hollywood who we are, what we are made of, and break the cycle of the constant stereotypical portrayal of our communities. Together we have the power to reshape our path into a New Hollywood. Together we can rise up. IN THE HEIGHTS will make a huge mark in our industry and show a different side of the Latinx community that will leave people wanting more.” said Lynette Coll, Co-Founder and CCO of THE RABBLE and Executive team member of Caribeña Creatives.
