Bionic Buzz® got to interview director, writer & producer Asif Akbar over zoom. We talked about where his passion for film making came from growing up in the Cleveland, Ohio area. Then we talked about his latest film he directed, wrote the story and produced called “The Commando.” Stars Mickey Rourke (Iron Man 2, The Wrestler), Michael Jai White (Spawn, The Dark Knight), Jeff Fahey (Lost, Alita: Battle Angel) and UFC fighter Donald Cerrone “Cowboy.” He talked about the they shot the movie quickly during the Covid-19 pandemic and how they were tested to keep everyone safe.

Synopsis: A DEA agent with PTSD returns home after a botched mission and must now protect his family from a home invasion after a newly released prison criminal and his henchmen come after their stash of millions inside of the agent’s home. Look for The Commando to be released in 2021.

We also talked about his other film “Ace & the Christmas Miracle” that Liongate will be releasing next month on all digital platforms. It’s Christmastime and after having her “Happily Ever After” wrecked by an unfair divorce, Amanda (BRANDE RODERICK) must come up with a plan to secure her 10 year old son Daniel’s future, before it’s too late. During the Annual California Wine Country Christmas Derby, Amanda meets two misfits, down on their luck, to execute her plan. With the help of a talking Horse named Ace and his racehorse friends, Amanda finds her way to the miracle of a very different “Happily Ever After”.
