Electric Bloom is Disney’s vibrant new series that follows Posey (Lumi Pollack), Jade (Carmen B. Sanchez), and Tulip (Ruby Marino) as they navigate friendship, creativity, and the spark that comes from embracing who you truly are. Filled with music, color, and heartfelt storytelling, the show blends magical realism with relatable moments, making it a must-watch for kids and families alike.

Bionic Buzz® own Steve Sievers interviews the stars of the Disney’s Electric Bloom.

Here at Bionic Buzz®, we’re all about people’s passions—where did your passion for performing first begin?

RUBY: My brother and I would do musical puppet shows for our parents all the time during dinner.

LUMI: As far back as I can recall I loved performing.  I’ve grown up in a very musically inclined family, which was definitely passed on to me because I think I was singing before I could talk. When I was around 8, I started attending a performing arts camp primarily for singing, but getting cast in a few musicals immediately hooked me on acting.  From then on, I knew exactly what I wanted to pursue, and I haven’t looked back since.

CARMEN: My passion for performing began when I was a little girl. I was always singing, dancing, and acting out stories at home. Performing felt natural to me—it was my way of expressing myself and connecting with others. Over time, I realized it wasn’t just a hobby, it was truly my calling.

Electric Bloom has such a fun and heartfelt backstory about how the girls form a band. What was your first reaction when you read the script or heard about the series?

RUBY: I’ve always wanted to be in a Disney musical project. I grew up watching them so even getting to audition for one was a dream come true.

LUMI: I remember reading the breakdown for the audition and becoming instantly intrigued. It really excited me because it had that classic, nostalgic Disney feel that knew and loved growing up with, while being a brand-new concept and story. It was such a fun idea, and the writing was so witty and well-crafted, which also caught my attention.

CARMEN: When I first read about Electric Bloom, I felt such excitement and joy. The story was full of heart and really showed the importance of friendship and following your dreams. I immediately knew it was something I wanted to be a part of, and I felt honored to bring my character to life.

How would you describe the bond between your characters, both on screen and off?

RUBY: I think our bond onscreen works so well because our bond off screen is so strong.

LUMI: The bond between Posey, Jade, and Tulip is so pure and special. Three completely different girls come together to share their bond over love and music, and from then on become the best of friends. The show is almost parallel to our friendship off-screen. Ruby, Carmen, and I are, in many ways, very different girls, but we were brought together to create this fantastic show and share our love of music and acting. It’s incredible that in the story, we become closer and closer friends as the episodes go on, and behind the scenes, it is true as well! Working closely together every day has solidified our bond further. We have become like sisters, and it makes every scene authentic and fun.

CARMEN: On screen, our characters share a strong bond that grows with every challenge they face together, and off-screen it’s very much the same. We’ve become like a real family—we support one another, we laugh a lot, and we’ve built a true friendship that I think makes the show feel authentic.

The show blends music and storytelling—what’s your favorite song or musical moment so far?

RUBY: The show has had a lot of incredible music but I think an underrated moment is the “Wedding Day” song in episode How We Got Crushed.

LUMI: My favorite song is The Lies We Tell Our Hearts. I like the angsty feel of the song and how it differs from all other songs from Season 1 which are upbeat. Every episode features such fun musical moments and other amazing songs. There are also some fun moments in episodes that have yet to come out, but I don’t want to be a spoiler. I will say that every Shelly riff is constantly stuck in our heads on set.

CARMEN: There are so many incredible musical moments, but one of my favorites is when the band first performs together. It’s such a powerful scene that captures all the emotions—hope, excitement, and unity. It gave me goosebumps the first time we filmed it, and it still does whenever I watch it.

What message do you hope young viewers take away from Electric Bloom?

RUBY: I hope young viewers feel like they can be themselves. I hope they see themselves in the characters on our show.

LUMI: Although each episode contains a different and relevant theme for viewers, a big message of the show is the power of friendship and kindness. I hope young viewers will walk away from each episode feeling more empowered to be who they uniquely are and become confident in pursuing their passions.

CARMEN: I hope young viewers feel inspired to believe in themselves and in the power of friendship. Electric Bloom shows that no dream is too big if you stay true to yourself and surround yourself with people who lift you up. I want kids to know that their voices and passions matter, and that they can shine in their own unique way.
