Bionic Buzz® covered media day at the Comic-Con Museum in San Diego! 🎙️✨

We interviewed Rita Vandergaw, the Executive Director of the Comic-Con Museum, to learn all about their brand-new exhibits celebrating pop culture, fandom, and creativity. From comics and superheroes to film, gaming, and collectibles — the Comic-Con Museum continues to bring the spirit of Comic-Con to fans all year long! 💥

Doctor Who Worlds of Wonder: Where Science Meets Fiction – Cosmic curiosity … scientific explorations … and wibbly-wobbly, timey-wimey stuff! This exhibit, created by BBC Studios and Sarner, has landed in the U.S. for the first time, making it a must-see for Doctor Who fans of all generations. With a vast array of original props and sets, a TARDIS Tech Room to explore the Doctor’s gadgets and gizmos, and a Monster Vault full of the Doctor’s most frightening foes, viewers can discover the stories and science behind the world’s longest-running science fiction show. Plus – for the first time ever – a brand-new section of the exhibits with all 17 of the Doctor’s costumes.

Twenty Years of Kawaii & Chaos – We’re celebrating the globally recognized, Japanese-inspired pop culture art and lifestyle brand tokidoki with its first ever museum exhibit! Visitors and fans will enjoy seeing Italian brand tokidoki’s evolution since its founding in 2005, complete with pieces from collaborations with notable brands including Godzilla, Hello Kitty, and Marvel; co-founder and artist Simone Legno’s original fine art; and a handful of its criminally-cute and larger-than-life characters spread about as giant photo ops. There are hundreds of items on display – and even more in the Museum’s shop.

Sangre, Sudor y Mito: The Art and Tradition of Mexican Lucha Libre – Step into the ring and enter the exhilarating world of lucha libre! Created exclusively for Comic-Con Museum in collaboration with the Museo de La Lucha Libre Mexicana and the Consulate General of Mexico in San Diego, this exhibit breathes life into decades of stories from lucha libre’s history, including match-worn costumes, championship belts, authentic masks spanning decades of history and culture, and photographs and videos capturing iconic in-ring moments that had the crowds roaring.

Growing Up Luann: 40 Years of Comics – Explore the magic behind the LUANNiverse! This intimate showcase invites viewers to take a journey through the creative evolution of Comic-Con Inkpot Award Winner and Cartoonist Greg Evans’ beloved comic strip. With comic strips from every decade filling the walls, admire original artwork and celebrate the iconic character – inspired by daughter-turned-co-creator Karen Evans – that has captured readers’ hearts for over 40 years.

Comic-Con Museum Shop – Fandoms galore are represented on the shelves of the Museum’s store, in the form of comic books, fashion accessories, graphic tees, toys, art prints and more. Plus, the shop is stocked with Doctor Who, tokidoki and other exhibit memorabilia. Open to the public; Museum admission not required. Open 10 a.m. – 5 p.m.
