Bionic Buzz® interviewed New York Times bestselling author Daphna Edwards Ziman over Zoom. We dove into her new novel, The Gray Zone, which is now available in paperback and eBook through Cinémoi Publishing. The compelling, dramatic thriller shines a light on the complex realities faced by vulnerable youth and the difficult moral choices that exist within the foster care and justice systems.

Originally released to international recognition, The Gray Zone follows Kelly Jensen, a young woman whose life is shaped by violence, foster care, and years of survival on the streets. As an adult, she becomes entangled in a dangerous world of crime, identity, and corruption while fighting to protect her children and uncover the truth behind powerful forces connected to the legal system.

Drawing from years of advocacy work with foster youth and at-risk children, Ziman wrote The Gray Zone to reflect the difficult realities many young people face within the system, while telling a suspenseful story about survival, justice, and the search for truth.

In addition to being a bestselling author, Daphna Edwards Ziman is widely recognized for her humanitarian work and advocacy for children. As founder of Children Uniting Nations, she has worked extensively to support foster youth and bring public attention to the dangers of abuse, neglect, and exploitation affecting vulnerable children. In 2025, she was honored with a Lifetime Achievement Award at the United Nations 80th Anniversary Gala for her global advocacy efforts.

The new paperback and eBook relaunch of The Gray Zone aims to introduce the novel to new readers while renewing conversation about the difficult realities faced by children in the foster care system and the complicated choices people must make in the fight for survival and justice. Blending suspense, drama, and social commentary, The Gray Zone explores the blurred line between right and wrong, revealing how far one woman will go to protect her family and expose the truth.
