Today, legendary drummer and Canadian Music Hall of Fame inductee Frank Zummo announced that he is releasing his book, UNBREAKABLE RHYTHM: My Journey Through Music, Wellness, and Mental Strength with music journalist Jason Pettigrew. It is set to be released on November 11th via Modern Drummer Publications.

The idea for the book was sparked during a powerful moment during Zummo’s 2023 School of Rock Workshop. After performing with Sum 41 and The Offspring, Zummo drove straight to House of Vans Chicago to lead the event. In the crowd that day was Pettigrew, who had already been discussing the possibility of a book with Zummo and had driven several hours just to attend. What unfolded backstage after the event became the starting point: Pettigrew hit record, they began talking, and that conversation ultimately became the book’s introduction.

Fans can expect a deeply inspiring and raw story that bridges mental health awareness and musical passion to create something real and impactful. The book features a heartfelt foreword by musician Dhani Harrison, son of the legendary George Harrison, It will also include notable conversations and interviews from Tommy Lee (Drummer, Motley Crüe), Deryck Whibley (Singer, Sum 41), Kevin Lyman (Founder, Vans Warped Tour), Laird Hamilton (Big Wave Surf Legend), and many more.

Frank Zummo shared his thoughts on the upcoming memoir:

“A lot of musicians write books to share their stories, from their creative lives to their crazy tour tales to more scandalous moments. This is not that book. From the beginning, my mission was seeing how these workshop events were saving lives first-hand, motivating and inspiring people. I do five to seven events a year—a small amount compared to the sheer size of the world. I want to be able to have this message be around the world. That’s why this is in a book: Because I can’t be everywhere I want to be. The goal is to put what I do—and the message—into a book to inspire people, motivate them, and supply them with the resources to get help. And then take all this stuff and intertwine it obviously with stories of what I’ve experienced.”

In addition to the upcoming book, Zummo has recently announced his forthcoming EP Feels, set for release on October 24th. This new project serves as the book’s soundtrack, intended to be listened to as you read through the book. The EP’s cover art was created by Zummo’s two sons, adding a deeply personal touch to the project. His first single off the EP, “thank u (feat. Sorry x),”is coming out Friday, September 26th. It’s a collection of emotionally driven, genre-blending tracks that reflect Zummo’s evolution as an artist and human.

Zummo will also have a handful of book / workshop tour dates, which can be found below this fall and winter. Additional details will be announced in the coming weeks. To stay up to date on all of Frank Zummo’s latest news please follow him at @FrankZummo.
