Annapolis hard rock band VEER , whose debut album Apocalyptic, Baby, was released last December to much acclaim, will release a four-song EP titled Shut Up and Breathe on October 30, at their pre-Halloween show at The Admiral’s Cup, located in Baltimore’s historic Fells Point.
“Both the EP and the Halloween show are our thank-yous to the fans, ” said frontman Ronald Malfi. “We’ve been writing a lot of new material since the first record came out. This EP is us thanking our fans for supporting our live shows while waiting patiently for a new record.”
The EP consists of four tracks. It opens with the album version of their single “Breathe,” which reached the #1 slot on Australia’s top indie tracks while charting at #15 on Radio Indie Alliance in the U.S.
The follow-up track is a stripped-down version of “Breathe,” performed on acoustic guitar. The final two tracks are live cuts of the songs “On Top” and “Make You,” from one of the group’s energetic live shows.
VEER, who formed in 2016, have quickly risen to the top of the mid-Atlantic music scene while also enjoying international success. Prior to the release of their debut album, Apocalyptic, Baby, the band had songs chart both domestically and abroad, with hits “Come Clean,” “Make You,” and “Power Drive” reaching #1 on the Australia indie rock charts, and where fans subsequently voted VEER as the #1 best indie rock band internationally. In December 2018, they received the award for Best Rock Artist from the Maryland Music Awards, where the band closed out the awards show at Rams Head Live! in Baltimore. Their song “Come Clean” was awarded Best Rock Song in the Winter of 2019 by the World Songwriting Awards, an international organization that promotes and recognizes songwriting in various genres throughout 129 countries.
Apocalyptic, Baby was released on December 1, 2018, and immediately broke the Amazon Top 100 Rock albums (#55). they continue to be the go-to support act for national recording artists coming through Maryland, and have shared the stage with Buckcherry, Puddle of Mudd, Fuel, Sponge, Trapt, Eve to Adam and 40 Below Summer to name a few.
